In professional hygienic makeup: double dipping is not a mistake, it’s unacceptable.
Double dipping is one of the biggest hygiene red flags in the makeup industry. It transfers bacteria from one client to another and can lead to breakouts, irritation, and even infections, especially when it comes to products used around the eyes and lips.
A professional makeup artist should always use clean tools or disposable applicators for every client. No exceptions. As a client, this is something I would always pay attention to. And as a makeup artist, I want my clients to feel safe, clean, and comfortable in my chair.
A makeup kit should also be sanitised after every use, including all products and surfaces. Brushes must be properly cleaned and disinfected, and used individually per client to avoid any risk of cross-contamination.
Hygiene is a standard, not a choice. And it will get you booked again.
