What to Do Before Your Makeup Appointment: A Makeup Artist's Checklist

You've booked your makeup artist in Dubai, your outfit is ready, and now it's time for your appointment. A little preparation can make a big difference to the final result. Here are a few things I recommend before you arrive:

Unless your makeup artist tells you otherwise, arrive with a clean face and no makeup. I always prepare the skin before applying makeup, so there's no need to apply your usual skincare just before the appointment.

The day before an important event isn't the best time to try a new facial, peel or strong skincare product. Even products you've used before can sometimes leave the skin sensitive or irritated. Keep things simple in the days leading up to your appointment.

Save a few photos of makeup you love. They help your makeup artist understand the style and feeling you're looking for. Just remember that every face, eye shape and skin type is different. I might adjust elements of the look so they work better for you.

If possible, wear a button-up shirt, robe or something you don't need to pull over your head after your makeup is finished. It's a small detail, but it can save your freshly finished makeup and hairstyle.

If you have allergies, sensitivities or know that certain products don't work well for you, mention this before your makeup appointment. And finally, arrive on time and relax. Your appointment should be an enjoyable part of getting ready, not another thing to stress about.
